WHERE JOURNALISM AND INTERIOR DESIGN COLLIDE

Kathleen is a writer, editor, and interior designer. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia where she majored in International Affairs and History with a focus on cultural studies. After graduating with highest honors, she moved to New York City to attend New York University where she received a Master’s in Magazine Journalism. She interned at publications like Town & Country, Marie Claire, and Modern Luxury and began her career at HGTV Magazine, a Hearst print publication. At HGTV Magazine she wrote home and kitchen tours, a variety of decorating and design stories, covered all HGTV talent content, and researched and wrote cleaning and organizing content. She also ran the Editor-in-Chief’s social media account, built the magazine’s weekly newsletter, and managed her own freelance writers.

At HGTV Magazine, Kathleen discovered a love for interior design that she decided to explore. She received a Certificate in Residential Interior Design from Kennesaw State University and currently works for one of the top high-end residential and commercial interior design firms in Atlanta, Traci Rhoads Interiors. She now brings a more knowledgeable approach to her design and decorating writing.

Kathleen currently freelances for HGTV.com and FoodNetwork.com in which she not only pitches, researches, and writes her own stories, but builds them in Warner Brothers Discovery’s CMS with SEO best practices in mind. Additionally, she writes home and kitchen tours as well as covers local design news for Atlanta Magazine’s HOME.
